Dnevnik, Macedonia: OMO Ilinden – Pirin Collects 2,000 Signatures in Support of Party's Registration

Skopje. Supporters of OMO Ilinden – Pirin collected the first 2,000 signatures in support of the registration of the party that proclaims respecting the rights of Macedonians in Bulgaria, the Macedonian daily Dnevnik reports today. Stoyko Stoykov, OMO Ilinden – Pirin spokesman announced yesterday that the process of collecting signatures continued. The three months' term for collecting the necessary signatures ends at the end of September.
“I hope that we are going to be able to fulfill the condition for registration of our party required by the law. The Collecting signatures is running without any problems and we have no obstacles”, Stoykov stated.
OMO Ilinden – Pirin held a constituent assembly recently at which it was decided to continue the activity of the party. Several years ago the Constitutional Court in Bulgaria banned the activity of the party stressing its existence was in contradiction to the Bulgarian Constitution. The European Court in Strasbourg found Bulgaria guilty of that ban last year, the newspaper reminds.
