Matthew Nimitz: Renaming Skopje Airport to Have Impact on Name Dispute

Athens. The Macedonian government’s decision to rename Skopje’s airport “Petrovec” to “Alexander the Great” will have a negative impact on the efforts for finding a solution to the name dispute, UN special envoy Matthew Nimitz said cited by the online edition of the Greek newspaper Kathimerini. Nimitz gave a press conference today after he met with Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis in Athens. He stressed that the Greek government’s stand was quite clear.
“Tomorrow I will visit Skopje to talk with the other side”, Nimitz said.
