NEARLY 10 000 BULGARIAN VISAS ISSUED IN MACEDONIA

Bulgarian diplomatic offices in Macedonia issued nearly 10 000 visas since Bulgaria's EU entry on January 1 2007.

Visas issued include touristic, those for students and long-term stay permits, Bulgarian ambassador to Macedonia Miho Mihov told Macedonian radio.

Over the pas years nearly 800 000 Macedonians visited Bulgaria, Focus news agency reported. A big number of people entered the country more than once.

Problems related to visa-issuing like long queues and the time Macedonian citizens had to wait were negative developments in the relations between the two countries, said Mihov.

Bulgaria had to meet EU requirements concerning border crossing and could do nothing to change the procedures, said Mihov.

Mihov said that the number of embassy and consulate employees in Macedonia was to increase. Dealing with the visa-issuing related problems was going to be short-term process, said he.
