Majority of Greeks Want Veto on Macedonia’s EU Membership

Athens/Skopje. A majority of the Greeks want their country to impose a veto on Macedonia’s EU membership if the name dispute was not resolved before that, the results of a poll by the opinion research organization VPRC, published in the Greek newspaper Kathimerini show, the Macedonian news agency MIA reports. The total of 66% of the respondents have voiced support for a veto; 55% of the polled have said they are not pleased with the functioning of their state, and 80% want the President to be elected by the people, not by the parliament as it is now. The total of 71% of the polled want the number of MPs in the Greek parliament to be reduced from 300 to 200.
