US Embassy warns of possible defrauding schemes

The US Embassy in Macedonia has issued a warning on possible defrauding schemes, using names and documents resembling official US Government documents.

"It has come to our attention that operators of what are known as 'advance fee schemes' may be preying on persons, businesses, and other organizations in Macedonia", says the US Embassy's announcement released on Tuesday.

Schemes may involve the sale of products or services, the offering of investments, lottery winnings, “found money,” or other opportunities.

The US Embassy advises Macedonian citizens to visit the website of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation for more information about advance fee schemes and other types of fraud.
