Pivo Fest Beer Fest 2010 in Prilep

The beer festival in Prilep this year will take place over four days:


Thursday 15th July through to Sunday 18th of July 2010.


The organisers said that they will be offering wide selection of beers, grill, music at different stages and entertainment. Ceca Raznatovic will be the star at the music stage.

First solar power plant in Prilep

Prilep District Council approved of the lot on which the first solar power plant is to be built in Prilep. Skopje-based company Trust will install collectors, which will produce one Megawatt of electricity a year, on three hectares of the land.

Branko Neskovski, manager of the urban planning department says that Prilep wants to be a leading city in the initiative for the production of electricity.

"The project will be built on a lot of some three hectares or 30,000 square metres. Private investor came up with the idea to use all riches of the nature. Hopefully, the construction of the complex will end during this year and this energy source will soon be connected to the energy system of the Republic of Macedonia," Neskovski said.

New 162 mumps cases registered in a day

New 162 mumps cases have been registered yesterday, including 34 in Radovis, 29 in Prilep, 238 in Stip, 16 in Skopje, 14 in Tetovo , 9 in Kavadarci and 9 in Bitola.

The total number of registered cases with Monday inclusive climbed to 1.787, the State Healthcare Protection Agency announced today.

Majority of mumps patients are from Skopje - 381, followed by Kavadarci and Prilep.

More than 20 people, includig policemen, arrested in Macedonia’s Prilep

Prilep. More than 20 people including policemen were arrested in the Macedonian town of Prilep in a vast operation of the crime fighting department and the quick response team of the country’s Ministry of Interior, the Maceodnian TV channel A1 reported. The operation was held early on Saturday and reportedly was aimed at a crime group acting on the territory of Prilep for the last five years. Police said the group was blamed for several explosions, racket, blackmailing, trashing restaurants.

Large fire broke out in Prilep

The fire that broke out early Sunday in City Pub restaurant in old bazaar in Prilep burnt to ground more than 1.000 square meters of restaurants and shops.
Milorad Bacanov, night watchman of City Pub noticed the fire and requested from EVN branch in Prilep to cut off the electricity in the facilities.

The fire was localised after two hours and the reasons for the fire will be additionally determined.

CGI Allocates Grants to 16 NGOs

A total of 1,450,000 Denars in grants were allocated to 16 non-governmental organizations from southwest region of Macedonia, at the signing ceremony organized last week by the Centre for Civic Initiatives from Prilep.

”This is the first signing of grant agreements in Prilep. We hope to continue this practice of support for NGOs and their activities”, said Goce Todoroski, Executive Director of the Centre for Civic Initiatives.

The agreements were concluded under the “Strengthening Local Community Partnerships” project, implemented by CCI and financed by the Institute for Sustainable Communities. The project aims to assist local development, through promotion of partnerships between civic organizations, public institutions and the private sector.

A total of 57 projects from Prilep, Bitola, Krusevo, Krivogastani and Dolneni municipalities applied in the grant competition. The projects that won support include activities in rural and urban areas, in the fields of education, healthcare, social services, economic development, environmental protection and rural development.

The second competition for support for projects was announced by CCI to take place in February of this year.
