Asefi felicitates Macedonia on parliamentary election

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi here Tuesday congratulated the newly independent state of Macedonia for its successful holding of parliamentary elections.

"Iran felicitates the government of Macedonia, nation and winning parties for their parliamentary election held recently in a free and democratic atmosphere, and expresses its willingness to bolster ties with this country," Asefi said.

Macedonia held its 5th parliamentary election on Wednesday in the presence of European and other international community observers.

The parliament of Macedonia has 120 seats. Two thousand six hundred twenty candidates from 33 parties and coalitions competed in the election.
