Kosovo Endangers Territorial Integrity of Macedonia, Macedonian Agents Think

Skopje. Macedonian Intelligence Agency conceders that Kosovo bears a threat for the territorial integrity of the whole country, Macedonian Vecer newspaper published today. Secret service agents reported the information to the Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski on December 13th.
At present, there are no threats for the security and the territorial integrity of Macedonia, however, as the date for making the decision on Kosovo’s status approaches, a certain risk occurs, Crvenkovski said after his visit at the Intelligence Agency. There the President was assured that the agency “carefully and alertly” observes the events that take place in the region and it is ready to take the preventive measures needed.
Crvenkovski, himself, has not expressed any concern in relation to the statements made by the Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, that Belgrade will lay an economic embargo on Macedonia, if Skopje recognizes Kosovo’s independence.
The Macedonian President believes that Kostunica’s statements are pre-election marketing. Crvenkovski has reiterated yet another time that Macedonia will declare its position on Kosovo when the United Nations Security Council determines the region’s status.
