Welcome-home ceremony for ARM soldiers returning from Afghanistan

A ceremony on the occasion of successfully accomplished mission in Afghanistan of 21 members of the Macedonian Army will take place in Tetovo today.

Few days ago, some of the Macedonian soldiers of Leopards unit returned from NATO-led ISAF Mission in Afghanistan, as part of the regular rotation process.

On the occasion of the return of the contingent of the Second Mechanized Infantry Brigade after successfully completed mission, the soldiers will be welcomed by the ARM Deputy Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Adil Gazafer and the commander of the ARM Joint Operational Command, Ma. Gen. Atanas Jovcevski.

The latest round of the Leopards serving within the German contingent of ISAF was the tenth in a row. It run from August 2006 until February 2007.

Macedonian peacekeepers are deployed within units in charge of security of the communication logistics, security of the commanding camp and also provided assistance to the local population.

Last fall, the number of ARM troops in Afghanistan was drastically increased. Currently, Macedonia has 120 soldiers.
